Saturday night, November 17th 2018, a tree fell on Shelly. She was knocked out unconscious and the pressure caused her heart to stop. In that short time before the EMT showed up, the brain was effected. She lost a lot of brain tissue and we are unsure what the future holds at the moment.

She is a daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, a friend. She needs her family and friends as much as we need her. From what it sounds, she’s going to be in the hospital for a long time: anywhere from 9 to 12 months. Between that, when she gains her consciousness she’s going to have to relearn to walk, rebuild muscle, go to therapy, and that in itself will also be a slow process at a rehabilitation facility.

Even after a year, that’s when her brain will be at its permanent state of health. We do not know what side effects that may cause. She may need constant in home care or at least daily visit from a caregiver.

She helped me when my father had medical issues, the least I can do is do the same so she will be taken care of when she gets to go home.

Any help is greatly appreciated, we need all the hope, prayers, faith, and courage to get through this tragedy.
