Shelly Romero ER veterinarian debt
Donation protected
Shelly has made several ER veterinarian trips within the last weeks. Her debt has surpassed $9,000 and she needs help paying this off.
I have copied/pasted her words and caution to all animal owners.
“Our four dogs ingested an unknown poison last Wednesday (May 4th) morning, between 8:15-9:30 am. Cookie died within 90 minutes of me finding her in distress. I rushed the others to the Veterinary Hospital where Jupiter died during the night. His temperature was over 108 degrees.
Our other two (Basil and Apollo) are recovering but in guarded condition. The vet believes it was Strychnine poisoning. Both Guaifenesin (cough suppressant) and rat poison were found in Basil's system.
I am sick and feel absolutely gutted to think someone may have intentionally harmed them. Jupiter's body was taken to the UK Diagnostic Lab and we hope to have results within the week. We live in a very secluded area, no neighbors, no visitors, no leaked fluids, etc. We have scoured the area and found nothing.
They were initially concerned an airborne pathogen could be at play (mold, algae), but that has been largely ruled out. However, If your pet begins drooling, panting, displays muscle tremors or begins seizing, you HAVE to have them seen immediately. If you can't take them, message me and I will do it for you, no questions asked.
We are simply heartbroken. Please, watch your dogs closely for any signs of distress.
