Update: “Maybe it’s time to give an update since so many have asked what’s going on. About 4-5 weeks ago I started having some urinary tract issues. Stubborn me finally went to the doctor. No uti, no bladder and no kidney issues. Ultrasound didn’t show any issues either. A couple days later decided I better go to er here in Safford. CT didn’t show anything conclusive so was decided I’d better get an MRI. We headed to Tucson on Monday night thinking we’d maybe spend the night, get an MRI, an Rx and come home. Well, that didn’t happen. Test, after test, after test ruled out EVERYTHING. Blood work all normal. Long story short. MRI and spinal tap showed a “very rare” condition known as Tranverse Myelitis. Sent home a week later with cath and follow up with Neuro and Urology. Today’s Neuro appt confirmed hospital, yes, you indeed have this rare condition known as transverse myelitis. Good news, we know what it is. Bad news, other than the very high doses of steroids in the hospital it’s a wait and see if/when function comes back.

If you know Richie and Shelly, you know of their Fairytale story! Finding each other was the beginning of their Happily Ever After. I can truly say they are one of the nicest couples I know.

Right after Thanksgiving, Richie got sick with a viral infection. The virus has caused a lesion on his spine that is affecting the nerves connected to the urinary system. He ended up in the Emergency Room and from there was sent to TMC in Tucson for a week with numerous MRIs, CT scans, and daily blood work.

Going forward, he will need to continue follow-up appointments with a neurologist and urologist. Unfortunately, he hasn't worked since Thanksgiving and is unsure of when he will be able to return. Shelly has also had to miss work to be with him in Tucson.

I know they would never ask for help. But any amount to help with the hospital bills and loss of work would be greatly appreciated. Please share.
