Shelley McConnell medical emergency

Shelley’s story ..I pray you will find it in your heart to give ANY amount you can. She is is not in need of money because she spent too much on her CC or made poor financial decisions. My friend could be any one of us. This past year has been a tough year for Shelly McConnell and whenever she thinks she’s past the complications, she finds herself at the ER. Shelly has been teaching for 27 years. The last 11 Years she had taught life skills K-5 SPED on an Indian reservation in Wyoming. Her students come to school eager to learn and see Shelly. They love to be there, they love the attention Shelly and her assistant give them. Unfortunately, their days are not easy and it’s an emotional roller coaster. Shelly can’t image working anywhere else.
Shelly suffers from an autoimmune disease, Pancreatitis. Her diet and no/low stress are extremely important in maintaining her health. Due to Complications arising from a serious medical condition and numerous emergencies, she has missed 200 hours of class time 2023. Shelley had 75 hours of earned leave, however that time was quickly used up due to emergency bile duct surgery and several bouts of cholangitis which required being life flighted to Denver where she spent 2 weeks in the hospital. Shelly was released and had planned to return to her job the next week. Unfortunately, while getting out of her bed Shelly lost her balance. She fell forward and her face made contact with her dresser which knocked her unconscious . 911 was called by one of frightened children, which led to another trip to the hospital with a diagnosis of a concussion along with a broken nose. Additional time off was necessary. Regardless of her dietary sacrifices, lifestyle changes and careful monitoring, Shelly unfortunately falls into the small percentage of patients negatively affected by the treatments/surgery failing and causing further complications. January of 2024 she came down with an unknown virus which was then followed by influenza A and 2 weeks more out of teaching class. Shelley was recently notified by her school district that they will have to deduct $500 out of each pay period to recover the amount paid out but was not owed because of time off without pay. Shelly is devastated by the decision of the School board. Shelley has put on a smile and tried her best not to let anyone worry about her and makes light of her situation. Maintaining her belief and faith in God Shelly is determined that she won’t let this setback affect her health. Unfortunately for Shelly this reduction in pay greatly affects her ability to maintain her financial responsibilities. Shelley is a single mom who teaches SPED children on an Indian reservation in Wyoming. Shelley is the mother of 3 children and has 1 beautiful grandson who she takes care of. They all live in her area and do what they can to help. This is not an isolated situation due to her condition that has caused numerous emergency surgeries and lengthy hospital stays. Shelly’s savings is gone and Shelley's immediate and extended family are no longer an option because of the financial strain from helping out previously. Her children help but they are unable to contribute more because this will cause financial struggle on them. Shelley is a Christian and needs our prayers. She is a warm, kind, loving woman. Any amount will help and will be appreciated. I pray you will be moved by Shelley’s story and give something to get her through this crisis. Thank you for your time please any amount will help.
