My sister Shelly Horsley just found out that her breast cancer, that she thought she had beat, has metastasized to her lungs. Unfortunately, it is a fast growing and aggressive cancer. She is on portable oxygen to help her be able to do every-day things. This is her 4th fight with cancer (breast twice, lymph node, now lungs). And, as you can imagine, the cost of treatments has been a significant financial burden. She is in need of donations to help cover her medical costs. She will need to go to Texas to MD Anderson in Houston for treatment.
She has 3 sons who need her very much, her youngest is just 11 years old. They are scared for what this means for their mom. They have seen her lose her hair, her skin on her hands and feet peel off, mouth sores that make it hard for her to eat, port infections, her nails turn color, and a lot of other things she wouldn't want me to mention.
Through each of her battles she has kept a positive attitude and weathered the storm without much complaint. She is trying to do that again but her best chance is with the experts at MD Anderson, the best oncology team in the country (if not the world) according to her oncologist. She needs help to cover the cost of getting there, staying there, and for treatment.
Her Bernese Mountain Dog, Molly, has been an unwaivering companion and needs her mom to be well enough to go on walks like they used to. The cancer in her lungs makes it very difficult to walk or do any kind of exertion. Even walking out to the car sometimes takes a few minutes to recover from. With your donation, Shelly can see the experts that will give her the best chance for the longest remission so she can have more time with her husband, sons, family, and beloved Molly.
