Shellie's Medical Fund

As many of you may know, my sister, Shellie Vlastnik, was in a serious car accident on the night of October 27th.  Shellie was heading home from work on 101 South, when she collided with an abandon truck, that was left in the fast lane on the freeway. Luckily, my sister was able to swerve and miss a head on collision. Unfortunately, she was not able to completely avoid the car and ended up still hitting the side of it. Thankfully, she survived the crash; however, she did sustain some severe injuries, including, breaking her right leg in several places. Luckily, Shellie was able to keep consciousness and apply pressure on her leg, keeping her from bleeding out.  Once the ambulances arrived on the scene, she was quickly stabilized and taken to the hospital where she received emergency surgery.

In the two weeks she spent at the hospital, Shellie has undergone five surgeries in order to align her bones, place a metal rod in her leg, and patch up a gaping hole. It has been incredibly challenging for my sister and whole family. The incredible show of love and support for Shellie from friends and family has truly helped us through this disaster. We are all very grateful.

As you can imagine, the medical bills associated with spending two weeks in the hospital and having five surgeries is a tremendous burden. Unfortunately, due to transitioning jobs, my sister did not have medical insurance coverage during the time of the accident. Thus, any financial support for my sister would be deeply appreciated. We are hoping to raise about $6,000 to help cover some of the costs of my sister’s medical bills. We are all truly grateful for any support you can give.
