If anyone knows my mother (Shelley) you know she would do just about anything for you. Through compassion and commitment to her profession (Mental Health Counselor) - my mom has saved so many lives, and now unfortunately she has to ask for help to save hers.
Since December my mother has been experiencing extreme stomach pain and illness, which was always associated with her gallbladder and never expressed as a serious concern. One day the pain became too much and my mom found herself in the ER undergoing several scans and tests. That day, February 14th, will always stick out in my mind as the day I found out my mother, my best friend, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer with liver metastasis. She underwent emergency colon surgery to remove the tumor on 2/18/19 and spent the following two weeks in the hospital recovering before being cleared to come home.
My mother has a long road ahead. She fought Sarcoma Cancer 3 years ago and I know she can get through this - she just has to fight like hell. She is the strongest person I know, and with the support of her friends and family we can help give her the medical attention she deserves. My mother is currently seeking treatment options through MD Anderson in Texas and will need all the help she can get to be able to fund treatment, travel, and day to day expenses that occur since she will be out of work indefinitely until we can put all of this behind us.
