AVN: My New Life"

Hi my name is Shelley Andrushko and i have been diagnosed with ON/AVN.  While i try to discuss AVN with you it is hard to explain all the sleepless nights, chronic pain, current struggles with depression, sensory neuropathy (no feeling in my legs and feet) and now exposed bone marrow in my Tibia and the fracturing bones in my ankles so since i started this campaign i have gotten considerably worse and last the burdon i have placed on my family. And now running this campaign is so stressful when you consider the people that you owe so much to and the faces of your friends that forget your face without consideration.

After my spill i had medial and lateral miniscus repairs done on both knees and still after 6 months i was feeling way to much pain after some time we had taken MRI's and discovered that i had Osteonecrosis / Avascular Necrosis (further known as ON / AVN).  AVN is caused by a blockage or loss of blood flow to the joint or bone, causing the joint / bone to die.  If the damage is extensive enough, there is the potential for the damage to render the diseased joint ineffective for life unless, proper timely treatment is received. It is second only in pain to bone cancer, the death of the bones / joints is the same. Time is still the number one enemy;  joints and bones keep dying and treatment options are very few. Since diagnosed with AVN my doctors in Phoenix were on the ball in early detection and repair, since moving home to Winnipeg, Manitoba to be with family and a set of doctors that believe the joint should collapse before doing any extensive work. Do they realize that if to much micro fracturing has happened during the collapse, a replacement might not be possible.  Or actully allowing the patient to experience 24 hour pain waiting for this bone to collapse under your own weight at any time. Can you believe complete opposite treatments from one Country to the next. There are 3 hospitals that would be glad to take on this request for help and research of AVN.  Manhattan, NY has The Hospital for Special Surgery, Baltimore has John Hopkins Dr. Micheal Mont had actually contacted me from Baltimore after leaving a message and gave me a check list for my surgeon and they all fell true and needed to be addressed,  Phoenix, AZ also has John Hopkins. These are my goals to reach all of 1 or all 3 if need be these organizations who study ON / AVN extensivly. While in Winnipeg i get told i will see you in 6 months your joints look fine, but from being diagnosed to now the AVN has now spread from both knees to both hips, i have 8-10 collapsed discs in my lower back  from the way i carry myself and we are just waiting??? It's changed my life and my career forever i was happy and fun to be around now whenever i get told i will see you in 6 months i feel like i die a little more inside. Please if i could ask for your help in acheiving instead of waiting i would be internally grateful.  Bones are breaking as we speak in my feet where at this time i am lead to believe i do not even have AVN.
Here is the real clincher it is up to Manitoba Health on where you get treated yet only cover 20% overall.
