Shelby's Last Chapter: A Loving Farewell
Donation protected
Shelby is the most lovable and cuddly old lady anyone has ever met.
After losing her brother 3 weeks ago to very painful bone cancer we thought all we had left to do was cuddle Shelby and spoil her even more. However after a very scary weekend Shelby was diagnosed with a highly aggressive cancer called hemangiosarcoma. This cancer caused her spleen to rupture and bleed. It was decided to take her home for hospice care. Shelby will die, from blood loss or another castrophic bleed from another rupture. Our goal is to make her as comfortable as possible. She takes a medication to slow the bleeding.
After 8 months of fighting bone cancer and a very expensive euthanasia and cremation we are tapped out. Now we are doing it all over again.
We are asking for a total of $1000.
$400 is for the mobile vet, if it should come down to it and the rest for medication and cremation services.
We are hoping she will pass in her sleep. We were told dying of blood loss is like falling asleep. However, if she grows uncomfortable we would like for her to pass at home. Just like her brother.
We can't belive we are doing this all over again, we haven't recovered from losing Kano only 3 weeks ago.
We had lots of plans for Shelby, this sudden news has been very devastating. She has been fighting Mast Cell Cancer for the majority of her life. Even completing chemo during the pandemic. Only to develop an even more aggressive cancer that came out of nowhere. She was just seen at the vet on Thursday and got a clean bill of health.
Her best friend is our diabetic cat Max. They absolutely love each other often getting into trouble together. Dad calls them the "pawfia". Shelby tries to make friends with wildlife often, believing she is a real life snow white.
Please help Shelby and her family with her end of life care.
Most importantly thank you to everyone who was a part of her life. Shelby felt like everyone who ever came to visit was there to see her. She would always rush to greet everyone at the door or the top of the stairs, usually followed by belly rubs and minutes of un-divided attention. Every movie, bonfire, or get together, she was always treated like family and not just a pet. Even during her hospice care, the one thing that will still make her tail wag is a visit from any of her loved ones.
