Shelby Shipley was diagnosed when she was 5 years old with a birth defect known as L-TGA (transposition of the great arteries) with Ventricular Inversion. Shelby has undergone 4 open heart surgeries through-out her life. In January of 2021 she was told she was in total heart failure. The doctors decided that putting in an ICD/Pacemaker would be the best option for her. Fast forward to December of 2021, Shelby was told she would need a heart transplant and possibly a full lung transplant. Shelby was put on the transplant list as of January 2022.
Shelby is an amazing, strong and courageous person. At only 18 she has been through a tremendous amount of turmoil but is still ready to take on life. She has always remained positive and says her heart isn’t going to keep her down. She love painting, music, and would on day live to travel the world. Shelby is going to school to be a teacher.
We are raising money to help Shelby and her family while she is in the hospital before, during, and after the transplant. There is always the unknown when it comes to medical procedures and we do not want the family or Shelby to have to worry about anything but getting healthy and getting through this.
Update!!! Shelby got a heart and is waiting to get a transplant in the morning!!! Everyone please send prayers and good vibes for a short recovery!
