If there is one person in this world that defines hero, it would be my little/big brother, Shelby.
Some people look at heroes as "famous" fictional characters, such as Batman or The Hulk. Some people look at sports stars such as John Elway, Joe Sackic or Todd Helton as real life heroes.
My family, well...
SHELBY BEAN is our hero!!
Shelby never askes for anything, nor does he take help when it's offered. He has been living in Washington DC while attending college for the past 5+ years.
As if leaving behind everything he knew to pursue his life long dream of coaching/training for football players wasn't hard enough, Shelby is doing so with a hearing impairment!
Shelby is the first in our family to receive a Bachelors Degree and pursue a Masters Degree. He is passionate about youth development and sports, focusing on sports for peace and education. He will Masters in International Development on 2017. For his Masters in Public Administration he will focusing on disability health.
Shelby has been coaching for 2 years at Gallaudet University. One year as a running backs coach and one as a defensive backs coach. Shelby was a two-sport athlete (football & track) in college. A captain of both teams and was awarded two coaches awards in 2013.
Shelby's hearing aids were damaged over 1 year ago. With no funds to be able to repair or replace them, he has a very difficult time with everyday tasks. We are looking to purchase him a Baha 5 sound processer. This hearing aid will allow Shelby to continue to live his normal everyday life!
Shelby has been our hero for the past 24 years, now is our time to give back, to be Shelby's hero!
