Shelby needs an MRI and I need your help.
Earlier this year, I started noticing that my 6 year old lab mix was having instances that looked eerily similar to a seizure. Her eyes would roll back in her head, and she'd drop down and go stiff for a bit. Then she'd come to, wag her tail, and be okay. Then she started struggling on the stairs, struggling to crawl into bed or onto the couch, but she always made it up. Her eyes would move back and forth rapidly (nystagmus) for no apparent reason.
I took her to the vet and we were able to rule out any kind of infection, but she said that she wanted me to take her to a veterinary neurologist because the nystagmus worried her. I started looking to costs and quickly find out that while the initial consult was reasonable - the MRI costs were astronomical. I was quoted up to $125 for the consult, but up to $4300 for the MRI itself. I am not in a position where I can afford a $4300 expense. I asked each office if they offered a payment plan and the answer was no, an upfront payment for an MRI would be required. Each office does take CareCredit, but when I looked into increasing my existing limit, I was denied because there is no evidence of real estate on my credit report.
So I am coming to you. This pup has been my lifesaver and my therapy dog since she came home with me in October of 2015. I joke that she was meant to be mine because her kennel identification number was 984 - my birthday is in September of 1984. She has helped me through a rough break up with an abusive ex. She has been with me as my previously undiagnosed depression got worse, and then got treated. She "takes care" of me any time I am sick. (By crawling up next to me and gingerly snuggling as close to me as possible.) She is an absolute love who is all about her people.
Please help me get my girl the care that she needs.
