Shoulder update! 7/2
I dislocated my shoulder while dancing early June, and again a week later in bed. After a month of scans and waiting for results, a voicemail was left on my phone letting me know that I, in fact, had broken my right shoulder and tore my labrum☹️. This has majorly impacted my mobility and ability to get day to day tasks done. I will be going to see an orthopedic specialist soon and am still praying I don't need surgery. anything helps, if you can't donate -> share :) i love you all and thank you for your support!!!

Hi friends❤️here's a little update!! Mentally I am still feeling strong! I have been blessed to find joy in dancing again, am on the board of a new non profit Down Hill Revival, and have been accepted into the University of Northern Colorado! I will continue trying to live life to the fullest!! But due to my ongoing battle with Elhers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Which affects the connective tissue holding the muscle to the bone, (making my ligaments and joints easy to dislocate and rupture) . My shoulders have been heavily affected as they are taking the brunt of the trauma in my daily life. Without the ability to walk due to my paralysis every single aspect of day to day life revolves around the use of my shoulders. Recently I experienced two dislocations of my right shoulder in less than a week, I am currently resting (☹️) and awaiting MRIs and Xrays. We are hoping no tears and no surgery but it is definitely a possibility. I hope I get to keep dancing!! As I am still fighting to get approved for Disability and Medicaid to even claim an income, I am updating this again, please consider sharing :) i love you guys!!!

:THIRD UPDATE:

Shelby is nearing the time that she will be released from inpatient services at Craig. She (and we) have learned so much over the last few weeks. She is now in a normal bed again and doing most of her daily routine without assistance. She has started (7-10-23) her driving lessons to learn how to use hand controls. The list goes on and on. She will be staying in the Denver area for a while and doing at least of month of outpatient therapy here at Craig. We honestly don't know how to thank you all for the continued support, so I will simply say THANK YOU! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

:SECOND UPDATE:

Shelby is immersed in her recovery now. Multiple classes every day. We are just over 3 weeks from surgery, and while she is still recovering, she is also gaining new skills. Making progress every day. It’s hard work! We are making plans for housing, an adaptive vehicle, and all the things that come with her new life when our stay at Craig is over. We really appreciate your continued support, love, and prayers.

:UPDATE:

Shelby is doing very well in the early stages of her recovery and in the best possible hands at Craig learning new skills every day! We are so grateful for your continued love and support of Shelby through this journey!

On May 23rd, our daughter Shelby was out with friends at a park near the river in Ft Collins, CO. Shelby and one of her friends decided to climb a tree near the river bank. During this event, our sweet girl took an unfortunate fall. The fall resulted in Shelby breaking her back at the T11 vertebrae and also extensive damage to her spinal cord. At the time I am writing this, Shelby has lost the use of her legs. We don’t yet know what the future holds as far as what she will be able to regain, but her doctors have been very honest with her, and said it would be a miracle if she walks again. While we continue to pray for that miracle, and not give up hope, we also focus on the reality of the current situation and the challenges facing Shelby in the coming months/years. As her parents (Alison, Casey, Angelique, Sean) we want to do everything possible to give Shelby all the tools she will need going forward. That’s what this money will be used for. Shelby is currently starting her rehabilitation at Craig Hospital in Englewood CO. Craig is one of the premier facilities in the nation in both research of spinal cord injuries and the rehabilitation process. We are grateful to have Shelby in the best possible place she can be right now. We thank you all for your love and support
