Aloha family and friends! My name is Shekinah Orlando. The daughter of Kimo and Kehau Orlando. I am currently a Junior studying in Ministry and Leadership and concentrating on Intercultural Studies (Missions) at Oral Roberts University.

This summer I have the amazing opportunity to go to Melbourne, Australia for my 8-week mission’s internship which is required for me in order to graduate with my B.A. in Ministry and Leadership in a concentration in Intercultural Studies (Missions). Also, I will have the great privilege to be mentored and receive hands-on experience with the renown evangelical Christian Pentecostal megachurch, Planetshakers. I will be doing ministry work focally at one of their main campuses located in the city of Southbank. This gives me the opportunity to serve in a wide variety of ministry areas like children’s, youth’s, young adults, media, outreach, small discipleship groups, etc.

As a girl who grew up on the small, rural island of Moloka’i, Hawai’i, which is more often called the “Most Hawaiian” of the islands. I was surrounded by such a loving community that offered so much to life. A people who lived a life at a much slower pace and who are deeply rooted to Hawaiian culture. No traffic lights, less commercialized compared to the other Hawaiian islands, culturally preservative and rich, moreover, the Hawaiian lifestyle. However, this internship brings me so much gratitude and humility as it is a huge opportunity for me to learn from people who hear from God and desire to cultivate other people’s gifts that God has given them. Everything that I’ve learned growing up on Moloka’i has given me a bigger picture of God’s true desire for Hawaiians. It’s the Aloha (love) that He truly wants to permeate His people with as I’ve truly encountered God’s love in my life from time and time again. This is my prayer for my people!

So, my goal for this fundraiser is to reach $8,000 at the end of April (hopefully before that). This will cover the cost of my flights, accommodation, food, etc. Your generosity through donating, love, and prayers would be greatly appreciated! Mahalo!
