Sheila Adhiambo Odera

It is with profound sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of our beloved Sheila Adhiambo Odera, which occurred in Arlington, Virginia, USA. She was the daughter to the late Prof. Henry Odera Oruka and the late Millicent Achieng’ Obaso, step-daughter to the late James Herbert Obaso, sister to the late Walter Owiso Odera and the late Sharon Atieno Odera. She was a step-sister to Victor Obaso, Gillianne Obaso, Julie Obaso (USA), Ronnie Oruka and Peter Oruka. Sister-in-law to Nicole Comp (USA). She was the niece to the late Richard Onyango Ongeche, Mrs. Joyce Onyango, Dr. Maurice Odindo, the late Margaret Odindo, Prof. William Okelo Ogara, Dr. Esther A. A. Ogara, Rev. John Samuel Ojode (USA), Prof. Lucy Ojode (USA), Prof. Henrick Othieno, Rev. Beatrice Othieno, Mr. Joseph Ogutu, Mrs. Sylvia Ogutu, the Late George Odongo, the late Risper Odongo, the late James Awange, Ms. Joyce Apondi, Mr. Sixtus Odhumbe, Ms. Rubina Adhiambo, Mr. Maurice Onyango Oruka, Ms. Gaudencia Awino Agaya and Ms. Cecile Comp (USA). Sheila touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her caring and gentle spirit. She was a loving cousin and friend to many.

In honour of Sheila’s memory, the family is organizing a memorial service to celebrate her life and the impact she had on all she interacted with. The service will be held on Tuesday, 12th March 2024 at 2:00 PM, St. Mark’s Church, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.

During this challenging time, we humbly appeal to family and friends for financial support to not only defray the expenses associated with Sheila’s final arrangements but to also enable her a dignified send off. We thank you for your donations.

Your thoughts, prayers, and presence during this difficult time are deeply appreciated.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may we find strength and solace in the memories we shared with her.
