Out of Bounds Productions is a student-run production company based out of Villanova University’s International Social Justice Documentary course. In October, our crew of 19 will travel to Morocco for two weeks to deepen our understanding of indigeneity in the Moroccan and global context.
Specifically, we will travel to the town of Talinin Commune Tamaloukt in the Atlas Mountains to capture the story of an indigenous community forced to leave their homes in search of a vital necessity: water.
The Amazigh people are the indigenous inhabitants of North Africa united in a shared language fighting for their identity in post-colonial Morocco. Currently, the residents of Talinin Commune Tamaloukt must walk 4 km a day to get water from a well that is sometimes dry, often broken, and always unsafe to drink. With increasing amounts of residents leaving the town, the community’s ability to freely practice Amazigh culture and traditions is in jeopardy.
Your generous donations will go toward travel expenses for our students and collaborators in the form of accommodations and transportation, as well as production equipment, post-production hires, and distribution for film festivals. Additional funding will directly support the Amazigh community in the creation of a sustainable, long-term water solution for the town.
Telling these stories to the world is important to our group. We are passionate about using the power of documentary filmmaking to create meaningful connections and ignite change. With your donation, our group will be able to empower the people of these communities, and allow them to share their stories and perspectives with the world.
