Hello family and friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we make this announcement. Our dear niece Shea Opal Cook was brought into the world by her two loving parents Taylor and Ryan Cook on November 11th, and left to be with Jesus on the morning of February 7th. She passed in the arms of her mama and dada, surrounded by love as she crossed the bridge to eternity. Shea was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal condition, Trisomy 13, which is traditionally deemed by doctors and medical professionals as an "incompatibility with life". Most Trisomy babies do not make it to term, or only survive a few short days after birth -- our girl Shea had other plans. Shea was and is a testament of absolute strength and God's grace - our warrior princess walked on earth with us just shy of 3 months, and in true Simpson/Cook girl fashion, fought like heck until the very end.
In her short time here, Shea taught us all so much. Lessons of strength, resilience, grace, trust in God's plan and His timing, and unconditional love are just a few of the bits of wisdom she imparted upon us. Shea was blessed with the two best parents, Taylor and Ryan, and big brother Paxton that a girl could ask for. We believe that love and family values start at the top, and both Shea and Paxton are blessed to have such a wonderful example set for them by their mama and dada.
Shea spent her time here on earth at the Children's Hospital in Denver, and as we all know, medical bills can accumulate quickly. In Shea's honor, we would love any and all help to take some of the stress off of Taylor and Ryan as they get back on their feet, and navigate this absolutely unimaginable time (while still raising 2 yr old Paxton).
We continue to ask for your thoughts, prayers, and positive energy to surround Taylor, Ryan & Paxton, and to lift them up. Your support would mean the absolute world to them, and to the Simpson and Cook families.
Baby Shea - you were, are, and always will be loved more than you will ever know. Your impact on those around you is far greater than anything we can put into words, and while we will miss you deeply here on earth, we know that the Lord is showing you a far better world than anything you could have experienced with us down here. And God, if you are listening, please make sure that Shea learns to play volleyball just like her mama and aunties on both sides. You are inked on our hearts forever Shea, and we look forward to the day we meet you again.
