Our mother, Rosa, is a 17 yr Breast Cancer Survivor and has found cancer in her body once again. Overall, she has been given a positive prognosis of survival with treatments of Chemotherapy and Radiation.
She has Medicare insurance which covers 80% of the medical expenses. She has been able to receive some assistance to pay for the 20% balance due for her Chemotherapy medicine. Chemotherapy also involves additional expenses such as chemo co-pays and specialist doctor visit co-pays.
No assistance is available for her radiation co-pay which is $50 per treatment for a total of 35+ treatments plus additional co-pays totaling $1,900. She also had additional expenses for surgery, CT scans and doctor visit co-pays. The medical expenses are adding up and this is the 2nd time she has gone through treatment & expenses. She had many more costly surgeries and treatment the first time, 17 years ago which cost her about $100,000.
So far, she has been through 5 treatments. She has just had a port put in this Wednesday. After the port was put in she had chemo and then radiation. She continues to work her job, but the chemo and radiation are taking a toll on her body. Her team of doctors have decided to treat her very aggressively because she is very healthy and they believe that they can cure her! We would all be excited to see that!
Truly anything helps. If you cannot donate, please share and keep her lifted with positive thoughts and prayers.
Thank You Xoxo
