Once Upon a Time... A Cancer Horror Story: After around 20 years in a bad marriage that she stayed in so her 2 beautiful daughters wouldn't have a broken home; a few years ago our sister married the love of her life. Sharon packed up her life (and her youngest daughter) and moved to an old farmhouse in Salina, Kansas. Because she started her family young and always put her children first, Sharon never went to college. When she made her fresh start in KS she decided to go to college. After graduating with honors, Sharon planned to start a career as librarian. She was getting a fresh start on life, after some rough times. We were all incredibly happy for her and proud of her. She was very excited about her new journey. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. A few months ago Sharon, was diagnosed with Stage 4B cervical cancer and was told she could get treatment to try to prolong her life a bit, but the cancer is not curable. The monster called cancer has spread through the walls of her reproductive system, her liver and abdominal cavity. Her bladder and kidneys are not functioning well (barely at all), because of this. As you can imagine, Sharon cannot work. Her husband, Darren, is working, but even with him working and her having insurance medical bills and costs of other daily needs are adding up quickly. We need get some home health care assistance for her, since most of her family (except her youngest daughter and husband who both work full time jobs) all live so far away (Tennessee and Massachusetts) Though she loves the old farmhouse she shares with her husband and daughter, it is very old and unfortunately in dire need of repairs - most importantly the heating system. The heating system is malfunctioning and needs major repairs, if not total replacement. As most people know, cancer (and its treatment) can cause a person's immune system to break down, so getting sick is not an option for Sharon. We need to get her heating system repaired or replace asap, so she does not risk getting sick with a compromised immune system. Sharon has been avoiding telling us how bad things are, as she didn't want us to worry. But due to her unnecessarily worrying about us, things have gotten out of hand fast. We understand everyone has their own issues in life, but we come to you with heavy hearts asking for help. Any donation big or small helps. If you can't donate, then please share and encourages other's to help. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. To be clear, my name is Angela Lovett (I live in Cleveland, TN) and I am Sharon's youngest sister. I created this fundraiser; however, the whole family including her daughters, parents and other siblings are involved with it. Any money collected will be used towards things such as medical bills, general needs (food, cleaning supplies, etc) help around the house (for example: home health aid, housekeeper) and home repairs (mainly the heating system). The money will be withdrawn Sharon and sent to providers, such as doctors, hospitals, home health care, housekeeping services, HVAC repair service, other general repair service and/or other bills, as needed.
