“She Thought She’d Die Alone — But We’re Not Letting That Happen”
She opened the door… and I froze.
After 10 months apart, I finally saw my dear friend again. I barely recognized her.
She had lost so much weight. Her body was trembling uncontrollably — her hands shaking the most. Her eyes were vacant, scared, locked in a haunting stare. Her hair was thin and tangled.
I had come to take her to apply for a babysitting job.
I had no idea things had gotten this bad while I was away.
Out of concern, I checked her medications — and found Risperidone 2mg, a powerful antipsychotic with serious side effects.
Her psychiatrist had prescribed it a year ago — and never followed up. The prescription was automatically refilled each month.
She thought her worsening symptoms were part of her illness… not realizing the medication, unmanaged and unmonitored, was likely making everything worse.
She told me quietly:
“I thought I would just stay in my apartment and slowly die.”
Since losing her job during COVID, she had been delivering food to survive. A few months ago — fragile, exhausted — she got into a serious car accident. She was at fault.
Now, she’s facing eviction, thousands in debt, no income, and ongoing struggles with untreated trauma, isolation, and mental health instability.
She has always been one of the most selfless, kind-hearted souls I’ve ever known.
She’s survived a heartbreaking childhood, a painful marriage, caring for a terminally ill sibling, and decades of battling depression and anxiety.
I’ve brought her into my home. She can’t be alone right now. But I don’t have the means to help her financially.
That’s why I’m reaching out.
We are trying to raise $30,000 to help her:
• Avoid eviction and stay safely housed
• Pay off critical debt from the accident and lost income
• Receive proper mental health care and medication monitoring
• Start fresh, with the support she urgently needs
We’re racing against time.
By 07/25 we must raise at least $5,000 to stop the eviction process and keep her safely housed.
Without it, she could lose the only stability she has right now.
Please — if you can help or share this today, it truly could change everything.
We have a month for the remaining.
donations even as small as $20 make a difference, and if you’re unable to give, please share this with others. Your kindness could be the reason she gets a second chance.
Let’s be more mindful of those silently suffering with mental health conditions. Psychiatric medications must be monitored closely by a doctor. A wrong prescription or lack of follow-up can cause irreversible damage — like what happened to my friend.
This campaign is not just about help. It’s about awareness, safety, and saving a life.
This campaign is about more than financial help.
It’s about awareness. It’s about safety. It’s about saving a life.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you.
