Help My Mom Recover After Life-Saving Heart Surgery

During this time of desperation, I am reaching out to anyone willing to help my mother through her time of need.

For as long as I can remember, my mom has battled serious heart health issues. At just 34, she experienced her first heart attack. Over the last twenty years, she has continued this uphill battle, surviving many more — including one doctors call the “widow maker.” She should not still be here, but she is a fighter and a survivor.

Through all of this, she has continued her life’s work of caring for others. She spent 25 years as a CNA, worked six years as a 911 operator, and volunteered as an EMT for her local fire department. Her ultimate goal has always been to help people through the worst days of their lives — and to do it with compassion and integrity. She has truly lived a life of public service.

At 43, she pursued her lifelong dream and became a nurse. Almost immediately after graduating, she went to work in the prison system. I once asked her how she could care for people who had done such terrible things, and she told me, “It’s not my job to judge them — just to take care of them.” She carried that mindset through the pandemic, showing up every day despite her weakened immune system, risking her own health so others could survive.

This May, everything changed. A visit to the ER led to the devastating news that she needed open-heart surgery immediately. She cried in the hospital, terrified about how she would recover financially if she took time off work. For a moment, she considered refusing the surgery. But doctors made it clear it was her only real option, and we convinced her to go through with it — because losing our mom was simply not an option.

Now it is August, and she is finally ready to return to work. But the financial toll has been crushing. Months without income have left her on the brink of homelessness, and she has now lost her car — making it nearly impossible to get to work, rehab, or follow-up appointments.

Your donation will go directly toward:
• Life-saving medications she must take daily
• Cardiac rehab and ongoing medical care
• Overdue bills from months without income
• A reliable car to get to work and appointments
• Possibly moving her closer to family for support during recovery

If you can help in any way — financially, by sharing this campaign, or through your prayers — we would be forever grateful. My mom has spent her entire life serving others. Now, I’m asking the world to help take care of her.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
