She Grrrowls Legacy Project

Donazione protetta
I'm Carmina and I'm raising funds to contribute to the 10% of funding in application to Arts Council England. A lot of work has already gone into this application as I have had to re-write it multiple times, with the fourth application having been rejected. This is likely the case due to the fact that this is the biggest project yet, compounded with stiff competition and cuts to ACE funding over recent years. Should the application not be accepted for a fifth time, I will keep trying. I am addressing the points raised in the appraisal, which are largely audience-based, if I can say that the audience has contributed to this fundraiser, it could make a huge difference to the project going ahead! Should it ever come to the point that I am unable to go forward with this project, you can opt to get a refund, or consider it a donation to my efforts and any potential other iteration of She Grrrowls.

About She Grrrowls: She Grrrowls is a feminist arts night that features poetry, comedy, music and everything in between. Since its birth in 2013, She Grrrowls has been at various venues in London, featured at Goldsmith University’s The Place for Poetry, at Women of the World in Southbank, Attic Arts Club and Leamington Spa Poetry Festival. In 2019, She Grrrowls features at Edinburgh Fringe Festival with PBH Free Fringe for the third time. The She Grrrowls anthology of ten of our poets was published by Burning Eye Books in 2017, and this toured England with thanks to Arts Council Lottery Funding in 2018 The book is listed in the top 100 books of 2017 by The Poetry School. 2022 saw ‘She Grrrowls: The Festival’ – a day of workshops, panels and performances at The Albany in Deptford as part of Lewisham’s London Borough of Culture Award. It has been based at Catford Mews since March 2023, which sadly closed. Most recently, it featured at the Southbank Centre's National Poetry Library, which sold out!

About The Legacy Project: This project is the most ambitious project to date due to the amount of poets potentially involved. I hope to publish an anthology of as many poets who have been featured at She Grrrowls. This will then include a series of online events featuring the poets from the anthology, leading up to a launch event for the book, featuring a wide selection of poets from the book. This would be a dream project to be able to realise after so many years of running She Grrrowls. Most previous poets should be found on the running list: previous She Grrrowls performers.
