Hi, my name is Ikeem and I want to share the story of someone truly special. My partner, the mother of our children, Royce. (5) Aleia. (1) the, heart of our home and my best friend. Rosangel. Even her name is beautiful! She's a vibrant 31-year-old woman whose life was turned upside down by a series of devastating health battles. She spent most of her young/adult life fighting chronic illnesses with strength and grace.
She was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at age 13, and later developed multiple sclerosis. Complications from both pregnancies led to preeclampsia, which caused irreversible damage to her kidneys—eventually leading to total kidney failure.
In November 2024, her condition took a heartbreaking turn. My wife became extremely ill with shortness of breath, nausea, vision loss, and severe headaches. On Nov 7, she was told her kidneys had stopped functioning and was rushed into emergency dialysis. She was discharged with dangerously high blood pressure, and just days later, she suffered a medical crisis.
On Nov 27, during her second dialysis session, Rosangel was found unresponsive, having seizures from oxygen deprivation to her brain. She was placed on a ventilator and transferred between multiple intensive care units. During her stay, she coded Blue twice once on Dec 9 and again on Jan 12. Her survival is nothing short of a miracle.
Doctors diagnosed her with P.R.E.S. (Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome) and a cortical anoxic brain injury. She was in a coma, fighting for her life for months. Rosangel was finally discharged on Feb 23, 2025, after nearly four months in the hospital.
She returned home, but life is now completely different. She still lives with a tracheostomy, depends on oxygen, and receives peritoneal dialysis daily. The brain injury left her with limited use of her left arm and she now needs a kidney and pancreas transplant to survive.
Before all this, Rosangel was a joyful, creative soul. She loved to sing, cook, dance, and spend time with our children. She poured herself into motherhood teaching, encouraging, and building a home full of love. That same love keeps her going today.
I lost my job while caring for her in the hospital every day. We are now behind on rent and bills and are at risk of losing the home we just moved into four months before her crisis.
We’re asking for $10,000 to help with:
• Life-saving medical supplies and medications
• Transportation various appointments
• Rent, utilities, and essentials to keep our home stable
• Basic care needs for Rosangel and the children
Rosangel has fought for so long and she continues to fight. Your support means more than words can say. Whether you donate or share her story, thank you for helping us keep her safe, supported, and hopeful.
With love and thanks,
