My name is Apol, and today I am asking for help for someone who profoundly shaped the person I became, in ways almost no one realises, EVEN HERSELF. They say it takes a village to build a person’s future, and for me, she was a vital part of that village. She helped me discover who I am and what I’m capable of, laying a strong foundation for the person I have become. She is the kind of person who without hesitation, has supported countless others instantly, with whatever she has, no questions asked. My story is just one among many she has quietly impacted.

There was a time when I was still learning about myself, a time when I did not even realise that I needed to understand who I was. She was one of the few who saw real potential in me that was completely hidden from my own eyes. Not because I did not believe in myself, but because flattery never really worked for me. Praise was common since I grew up around people trying to gain favour with my mum and dad back then. But she was different. She took the time to encourage me to join every activity to develop the skills and talents I did not even know I possessed, even though she had nothing to gain from it. This revealed how sincere her belief in me truly was.

At the time, her pushing me did not feel like training. It felt more like she simply wanted me to have fun doing things I happened to be naturally good at. Little by little, she became one of the people who carefully built the multi-talented person I am today. She did not just watch from afar. She was one of the people who trained me, and she was present at every single event to cheer me on, even if she was the only voice in the crowd supporting me. Because she was there, I slowly gained awareness of my identity and the courage to step into it.

She was also a fierce protector who always stood her ground for me. I will never forget how she made a huge scene in the middle of the night the moment she saw me with a black eye, because she simply could not stand to see me hurt. It was incredibly embarrassing at the time, but looking back now I recognise it as sincere love. She was also one of the rare people who noticed the smallest details others missed. Among hundreds of boxes of lollies and treats, she somehow always knew exactly which one was truly my favourite. Even when I was eating everything at once, she always knew which one I loved the most.

When I was feeling lazy or simply too happy-go-lucky, she persistently pressed me to my limits and patiently guided me through tasks. She would even spoon-feed me just to push me past boredom and laziness so I could focus and grow. She did everything in her power to ensure I stayed committed to becoming better at anything I set my mind to.

Today, the woman who spent so many years building me up is facing a battle she cannot fight alone. She is now fighting cancer.

She is a senior citizen without household support, and the cost of medical care for her cancer in the Philippines is overwhelming. There is no job, no pension, and no savings, only mounting bills for specialised scans, tests, and cancer treatment.

I am managing this fundraiser from Australia so she can receive the critical medical care she needs. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference toward her urgent hospital bills in the Philippines. Our initial goal is $5,000 AUD, approximately 212,000 PHP, to help cover her diagnostic tests and treatment plan.

To anyone whose life I have been privileged to touch, the person you see today was built by the love and discipline of those who stood by me, including her. The good I am able to do in this world today is a fruit of the seeds she planted. I believe the Lord Jesus placed her in my life as a vessel of His grace. She was there for me when I was still finding my way, and now that the roles are reversed, being there for her is the very least I can do. I want to glorify God by reflecting the same sincere and unwavering support she showed me.

If you feel led to support, donate, pray for her healing or share this link, it would mean the world. Thank you for helping me honour the woman who guided me, and for giving God the glory through your kindness.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
