Kyle was diagnosed with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) in late 2010 after taking a routine drug screening for a new job. The onset of the disease was a direct result of an infection from a trauma he suffered from a farm accident in the summer of 2008. Since then, his CKD has been manageable without needing dialysis or transplant.
In the fall of 2018, Kyle’s health began to decline, he started getting frequent headaches and feeling very run down and unable to enjoy farming like he used to. He soon found out that his kidney function had dropped well below 20% and it was time to start the process of going on dialysis and planning for a kidney transplant.
UPDATE:
This is the most amazing update we could have ever imagined. After nearly 15 months of dialysis and waiting on the transplant list Kyle has been blessed with the GIFT of LIFE!
John DeMark has been tested and approved to donate a kidney to Kyle on March 4, 2020. Kyle and John have a long history. Both 2005 graduates of Lakeland Jr/Sr high school and captains of the Lakeland Chiefs football team during the 2004 season they share a bond most people never get to experience. John still lives in the district with his wife Samantha and two daughters who will also be graduates of Lakeland one day.
With a recovery of about 8 weeks John and his family will be without their usual income. We are kindly asking you to support him the way he is supporting Kyle. Along with lost wages he will have travel costs for post operative check ups. Please consider donating to help make these next few months go as smoothly as possible for the man who has stepped up to save Kyle's life.
