Shays Road to Recovery

Shannon Kunkel was diagnosed her freshman year with a tumor in her tibia called Osteiod Osteoma. She had a Radio Frequency Ablation surgery in February 2014. Three months later the tumor returned and she had the same surgery again for a longer period of time and at a higher temperature. Another three months went by and the tumor returned again, this time she had a curettage. In this surgery, they made a small incision and drilled into her bone to physically remove the tumor. After a year and a half, the tumor has returned again. With three failed surgeries, Shannon and her family are trying to get the insurance company to approve a new non-invasive High Intensity Focused Ultrasound surgery but the companies have denied all appeals. This surgery is only offered in California so we are raising money to help her have this surgery.
