Shay's Path to Recovery

Hello, I am fundraising for my niece, Shay (and her family). On November 25, 2022, her life changed in an instant, a car accident has left her unable to take care of herself physically, and in need of specialized transportation while she heals and recovers.

In less than two weeks this young woman has undergone three surgeries: to stop internal bleeding, to put back the pieces of her pelvis, and to fix her broken wrist. Her journey to recovery is a long road, filled with doctors, OT, PT, and many other appointments to ensure that her pieces have been put back together and stay together.

As an active high schooler in sports, academia, holding down a part time job, and babysitting whenever her schedule allowed; we all awaited her frugal and practical Christmas list, as she is no-nonsense and realistic with dreams of being a doctor. Instead, we received items that she needs to mend, items to assist her family in her care, all practical. Her aunts, uncles and grandparents have lent their support in any way they can and are grateful that she is here but realize that the financial toll will soon be a mountain.

We, as friends and family, are setting up this GoFundMe to alleviate financial stress, so that she and her family can focus on recovery. Critical care, helicopter rides and rehabilitation are incredibly expensive. Every little bit will help. While we are so truly thankful Shay is still with us, she has a long way to go.
