Hi my name is Shayna and I’m 30 years old. I suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease aka Renal Failure and Hydro nephrosis due to a birth defect. My deformities involve a horseshoe kidney and one of my two ureters were not connected to my bladder. Meaning my own body waste was poisoning me and doctors told my parents I wouldn't make it. I’ve managed to live a healthy life given the inevitable circumstances however in the last couple years my renal function continues to rapidly decline. I'm currently at an 17% glomerular filtration rate. GFR is a number based on your blood test for creatinine, a waste product in your blood to tell how well your kidneys are working. Given that number I'm in stage 4 of 5 of my disease. In short my kidney is failing. When I reach 15% the next phase includes soon beginning dialysis and later a kidney transplant. I have been placed on the transplant list with UCSF Medical Transplant Center in California, which is a 5-8 year waitlist.  My friend Lauren (pictured) is willing to become my potential living donor  with tests in the making of a potential match. My blood type is A Positive for anyone who is interested in being a potential donor as well. I am a full-time working professional who needs to raise the funds for the recovery costs of this procedure as I will be missing months of work during this process.
