Shayna Smith Scholarship
Donation protected
Shayna Elayne Smith, age 15, shown here giving one of her best friends a piggy back ride, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Shayna's name means "beautiful light" and that beautiful light shone brightly for 15 years on this earth. Shayna was gorgeous, smart, loving, considerate, athletic and compassionate. She was an honors student at her high school and number 16 in her class of over 500 students. She was a girl scout who had already achieved the Silver award and was working on her Gold Award. Shayna volunteered at the zoo and planned to be a veterinarian. Shayna was full of life and lived each day to the fullest as depicted in this photo. Shayna went to bed one night and did not wake up the next morning. Her parents have no answers as to why yet. As you can imagine, they are devastated. Lakota West High School is creating a scholarship in Shayna’s name to deserving students who embody the values that Shayna had. Shayna was only a freshman, but she was an inspiration to many. She lived life to the fullest and made a tremendous difference in her short time here on this earth.
Please help us to keep her memory alive by donating to this scholarship fund. The scholarship will be used to help a deserving high school student pay for college. The scholarship will be given on an annual basis. Any amount is welcome. Help us make a difference in a student’s life, in Shayna’s name.
Special thanks to Lisa and Olivia Lorenz for coordinating Shayna’s scholarship fund.
