Hi there, I'm "Shayna" Shawn Adelman. I'm an activist from Decatur, Ga. I lost my unemployment at the end of June because Georgia Governor Brian Kemp decided to remove our entire state from the program. I resisted doing this for as long as possible but my power was cut off today due to lack of payment. I got it back on but now have don't have enough money to get through the next 2 weeks.
I lost my job due to Covid. I've been surviving only because I have been getting PUA unemployment of $243 a week plus the additional $300 a week and now that is gone. I am applying for every job I can and had interviews but so far no offers despite having a college degree and 10+ years of work experience. I'm disabled which makes things more difficult. I badly broke my ankle in November and am still working on getting back my walking to 100%. That injury also left me with huge medical bills even though I have insurance.
My august rent is being paid by a local non-profit I'm on my own for everything else and if I don't find a job soon am likely looking at living on someone's couch in September. Any help is greatly appreciated.
