Shayna Conway’s Journey
Donation protected
On April 1st, 2025, Shayna Conway's life once again, took an unexpected and terrifying turn. What was first believed to be a stroke quickly became something far more rare and life-threatening. After being rushed by ambulance to Red Deer Hospital, a series of urgent tests revealed that Shayna was suffering from an extremely rare blood disorder called Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) — a condition so uncommon it affects only 1 in a million people.
Due to the severity of the illness, Shayna was immediately transferred to Calgary’s Foothills Hospital, where she began intensive daily plasmapheresis treatments. While she continues to fight with immense strength, her condition has been complicated by small clots affecting vital organs including her spleen, kidney, brain, and heart.
As many of you know, Shayna is no stranger to the unimaginable. Thirteen years ago, she miraculously survived a devastating tragedy that forever changed her life. Despite everything, Shayna has remained a radiant soul with a gentle heart and a quiet strength that has touched so many lives. To be back in the very hospital where she once fought for her life has reopened deep emotional wounds, but her resilience remains unwavering.
This journey, however, comes with overwhelming challenges. Shayna faces a long road ahead — physically, emotionally, and financially. Being unable to work, and daily costs, medications, and living expenses continue to build.
We are reaching out to you — friends, family, kind-hearted strangers — to help lift some of the weight from Shayna’s shoulders. Every donation, no matter the size, helps give her the support she needs to focus on healing.
If you're unable to contribute financially but still want to make a meaningful difference, consider donating blood—it’s a powerful way to support someone in need. Shayna requires approximately 28 units of plasma each day, a staggering amount that highlights just how critical blood donations are to her care. Every donation counts and could help save a life, offering hope and strength in a time of immense need.
Let’s rally around Shayna, a true survivor, and remind her that she is never alone in this fight.
Thank you for your love, support, and generosity.
