Shaylee’s Journey

Hi, my name is Pam and my granddaughter Shaylee is currently is the Specialty Care Nursery.

It started off with a trip to the ER, 2 ambulance rides, and almost a week long stay in the hospital for Rochelle around 32 weeks pregnant. About a week and a half later, she endured 2 more ambulance rides and it resulted in her being admitted to the hospital to deliver Shaylee.

She was born at 34 weeks on November 7th and was immediately placed in the Specialty Care Nursery. She was put on Oxygen to help her breathe, an IV to help with nutrition and a feeding tube for eating. She was able to wean off the Oxygen after 1 day, and her IV came out the next day.

Her current battle is learning how to eat through her mouth vs getting milk through her feeding tube before being able to come home. They aren’t sure when she will be able to come home as it depends on how Shaylee does each day.
