Hi everyone...My name is Shawn and I am currently fighting the US government to prove that I was brought into the US by my parents, legally, when I was two years old. If you saw my GoFundMe previously, it was being used to stay in my home. Unfortunately, I ended up having to leave my apartment, with the biggest reason being notified by my disability lawyer that the Social Security Agency was questioning the documents used to obtain my birth certificate. I was born to two American citizens, my father even being a US Army soldier and my mom being from Wisconsin. I was born in Seoul S. Korea in 1974 and the issue was that my parents were an interracial couple who did not want a race put on my birth certificate. My parents felt that putting a race on my paperwork was disrespectful to the parent whose race was not used. With help, my parents were able to get temporary traveling documents to get me out of Seoul and into the US. They are not saying that I am not an American citizen, but they are questioning the legality of the documents that were used to get me into the US. I have been working with Sen. Tammy Baldwin's office here in Wisconsin, and they are helping me get my father's military personnel file and DD214, in hopes that the paperwork we need is in there. I have to get an immigration attorney as I am being told that I absolutely should NOT go into a hearing or meeting with Immigration without one. I have found one but the retainer is $5000. They are kind enough to break that into two payments and then put me on a payment plan for the rest. I am going through the Social Security Disability process, which is what kicked this whole thing off, so being unable to work more than a few hours a week does not lend itself to being able afford an immigration lawyer. I don't know what else to do and can only hope that there is another miracle in the universe for me. Literally any help is appreciated and every penny is a blessing.

Hi, my name is Shawn. First, please let me apologize for needing to create a new fundraiser. I closed my previous one because I felt it was no longer needed. Sadly, I was wrong. I never imagined I would be back in this situation, but today I am asking for your help to keep from losing my home while I continue to fight for my health and recovery.

Last year I was diagnosed with stage 1 pancreatic cancer, the same beast that took both my mom and grandmother. My cancer was stable and watched closely by an incredible team of medical staff. But late into 2024, it was decided that I risked my ability to walk properly, if the issue in my left knee was not finally and aggressively, addressed.

So in October 2024, I faced having to have a total knee replacement. It was supposed to be a simple surgery, though I knew it would be a difficult rehabilitation for me given that I have several underlying health conditions. But what followed was a nightmare of complications that I could have never foreseen. The next 6 months were filled with 3 other surgeries, including a complete removal of my implant and replacing it with a second one, bone scans, x-rays and intense physical therapy. This has left me unable to return to work and while I have applied for, and exhausted, every assistance program available to me. I applied for Social Security Disability, but unfortunately I was denied a few weeks ago. I am currently continuing to go through the appeals process for it. Without that support, I am without any form of income and at the same time mounting medical bills and living expenses.

Right now, my most urgent need is housing security. I am behind on my rent of $1339/mo, and facing eviction if I am unable to cure the past due owed. The prospect of losing my home in the middle of medical treatments and rehabilitation from these surgeries would make an already overwhelming situation unbearable.

Even the smallest donation will go directly towards helping me stay safe, stable and able to focus on healing rather than surviving. If you are unable to donate, I would be so grateful if you could share this page with others who may be able to help.

I know so many people are struggling right now, and its not easy for me to ask for help, yet again. I feel like I am continuing to be a burden to all of those around me. But I can only hope and pray for a miracle.
