On December 21st my step-dad, Shawn was in a terrible car accident where he had life-threatening injuries. He was med-flighted to St. Mary’s and was bleeding internally. They opened up his chest to find several broken ribs, one of which had punctured a hole in his heart. He then went into cardiac arrest for 7 minutes, and the amazing medical team at St. Mary’s revived him. The second surgery consisted of repairing his spinal fractures, which he had several, including ones in his neck. That essentially left him paralyzed from the shoulders down with little movement in his upper extremities and no movement in his lower extremities.

With that being said, Shawn’s life will never be the same, and we have a long road ahead of us. Our hopes are to send him to one of the best spinal therapy rehab centers in America so he can regain some mobility. Insurance doesn’t even begin to cover the expenses we’re facing ahead of us.

Shawn is such an upbeat, positive and caring man with a contagious smile. He goes out of his way to help people, especially at his favorite place…the campground. Let’s all help to get him back there. Please continue to pray for Shawn and our family. Any help is SO greatly appreciated.
