Hi, I’m Shawn and over the past 7 years I’ve been battling an unknown Illness. At the peaks I have 20 to 40 stroke like symptoms a day. I have had numerous MRIs and they can see that they have not been actual strokes but I lose the entire left side of my body. No motor function at all. My MRIs look like someone threw confetti at the machine. Plaques everywhere. I have gone randomly blind and have permanent blind spots now that never came back. Vertigo happens a lot and I am always unsteady and lose my balance so I use a cane a lot. I go to physical therapy twice a week where they are trying to reroute the connections in my brain around the plaques. I get at least two IV treatments a week but need more. The IVs are to bring down the chronic inflammation which we believe might be causing some of the issues in my brain. I’m genuinely doing everything I can to try and get my life back. I’m 44 and refuse to believe this is my life from now on. I’ve spent time at the Mayo Clinic and have seen specialists all over the U.S. no one has been able to fully figure out what is happening to me. Im trying to find work that my body will allow me to do but that has been very difficult. Especially since I cannot guarantee I can be there every day. At this point I’m at the mercy of my symptoms. A little progress has been made but there are still more specialists to see. I have an appointment at Cleveland Clinic in February but I cannot afford the trip or the hotel or anything. I’ve sold everything of real value I own just trying to stay afloat and now im
about to lose my home and vehicle. I’ve avoided this for a long time because it’s humiliating to ask for financial help but at this point I don’t have a choice. I still have hope that this can be figured out and I can get better but my finances are completely depleted now. If you can help I appreciate it more than you know.
