Shawn’s Medical and Memorial Fund

The Murray family has been devastated by a series of family losses this year, most recently from beloved son, father, brother, and husband Shawn.

On June 3, what would have been his 50th birthday, Shawn Murray tragically succumbed to his injuries after suffering from a life-threatening heart attack and stroke. For two weeks, Shawn had been in critical condition and on life support. He was transferred from Greenville Memorial Hospital to University Medical Center in Charleston, where he underwent several emergency surgeries to clear blood clotting that endangered his right leg and his heart. While waiting for his heart to stabilize, he unfortunately had another major stroke from which he did not survive. Shawn was a registered organ donor, and in his passing, he was able to save the lives of two individuals with this selfless act.

Shawn, his wife, and daughter had recently relocated across the country from Monterey, CA to Greenville, SC in January for his work. They were eagerly awaiting their new home to finish construction and were set to move into it at the end of June. Shawn was so excited to be a first-time dad and to start this new chapter, even though it moved them far away from their extended families in California and Vietnam.

Shawn leaves behind his wife Khanh, their 20 month old daughter Katheryn, mother Sharon, twin brother Eric, and younger brother Jason. Shawn’s health emergency and passing have been overwhelming for the family during a time in which they were already grieving. Just over a year ago, Shawn’s father, Bryan Murray, suddenly passed away. These compounding tragedies have left the family broken hearted and shattered. As Shawn was the sole-earner in his immediate family, Khanh and Katheryn will also need to relocate back to California.

The Murray family is in dire need of support. Any amount that you can give will help with the financial burden of Shawn’s soaring medical bills, family support needs, and memorial service. Whether you knew Shawn personally or are just learning his story, we are so grateful for your generosity and for the thoughts sent to the Murray family during this tremendously difficult time. Shawn’s laugh and positive energy could always bring light to everyone around him, and he will be sorely missed.
