My brother Shawn was transported to a specialty ICU unit at HCA Florida Hospital in Largo, FL on 8/6. He was intubated and non responsive. While he is still intubated, he has started to make eye contact. The ICU medical team has been amazing and are doing everything in their power to help Shawn recover and get home to his daughter. While the cause is still unknown, Shawn has bacteria in his blood with multiple organ failure. Shawn’s body is fighting hard to recover. He is receiving 24hr dialysis and IV antibiotics along with many other treatments. His lab levels and organ function has started to improve. The hospital doesn’t allow any family to visit overnight. Since he was transferred to the other side of the state, the cost of travel and paying for somewhere to sleep has been stressful for his mom and daughter.
