So I've been asked by everyone, "What can I do, how can I help, if you need anything let me know.” Well here it is.
11/16/2014 we all lost a great friend, Shawn Gmitter.
Shawn touched so many lives. He was there for everyone. Weather it was for auto advice, a beer, a laugh, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to just listen, or for his brutally honest opinion when it was needed (or not). He was always there a phone call, text, or drive away, he was there. He played everything close to the chest, only letting very few know exactly what was going on with him. I was fortunate to be one of those people.
Over the last year I watched my brother, my friend, and a seemingly untouchable man, repeatedly get kicked in the nuts by life. He would just smile pick himself back up and move forward never truly letting anyone how bad he was hurting. A few of us did know Shawn was always there for us. Now it's time for us to be there for his family in their time of morning.
I know Christmas is right around the corner and times are tough for everyone, but if you could find it in your hearts to help out Shawn's family with the costs that come with this pain, please do. Let's help this amazing friend’s family by donating whatever we can if you can. Neither Shawn nor his mom Rosemary would ever ask for help, so I am. I've had the honor of calling Rosemary, Mom for the last 23 years of my life. I had the honor of being considered a son, a brother, and a part of this family for most of my life. So I'm asking everyone who knows Shawn, Rosemary, Yvonne, Yvette, and me to help.
