Shawnas Breast Cancer Journey

On July 16th My best friend/ sister got the news that no one wants to hear, Shawna was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma a fast growing breast cancer. As a young mother of 4 and wife this news hit her like a train. Two months ago she had found a lump on her breast and thought nothing of it, but when it never went away she decided it was time to get checked. Luckily she did. Shawna has been ordered by her doctor to stop working because if she is to come down with Covid19  it will put her medical treatment off for 6 months. She is scheduled for surgery in two weeks and treatment will start after that. She has a very long emotional road ahead of her and finances is one thing she shouldn’t have to stress about. As a family of six, used to a two person Income this is going to hit their family hard. Tyler has already missed a bunch of work to be a support for her and will be having to take off more time to get her to her appointments and surgery. As of now they will be paying everything out of pocket which is not a cheap process. While also having to pay for normal living expenses. Anyone who knows my sister knows how much she does for those she loves and for the community this is one thing we can do to help her get through this hard time.
