On April 1st, our lives changed in an instant. My wife, just 46 years old, suffered a sudden heart attack. On April 2nd, she passed away.
There are no words to fully explain the shock and heartbreak of losing her so quickly. She was the center of our family, a loving partner, and an incredible mother to our 12-year-old son. Everything feels different now, and we are trying to find our footing in a world that no longer looks the same.
As we begin to process this loss, I am facing a reality I wasn’t prepared for. My employer does not offer short-term disability, which means any time I take away from work to support my son and myself is unpaid.
Right now, my focus needs to be on being there for my son, helping him through grief, and navigating the many emotional and practical challenges that come with losing his mom. We are taking things one day at a time, but it’s clear that we need some space and time to begin healing.
I am asking for support to help cover basic living expenses so I can step away from work for a short period without the added stress of immediate financial pressure. This time will allow me to be fully present for my son and to start rebuilding our lives together.
If you are able to help, in any amount, it would mean more than I can express. And if you can’t, sharing this with others is just as appreciated.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and for helping us through this incredibly difficult time.
