Hi, everyone. I'm raising funds for my 50 year old brother, Shawn T. Parker, who has stage 4 brain cancer. Earlier this year, Shawn underwent his second craniotomy to remove a large tumor, which promptly began to aggressively regrow. In April, Shawn received radiation and then several rounds of chemotherapy to slow its progression.
Four months ago, Shawn lost the ability to walk on his own, and he can no longer manage the left side of his body. This means he needs 24/7 care to help him with mobility, preparing meals, ensuring he remains on his proper morphine dosages and medications, and assisting him with other needs as they arise. Shawn is currently staying in a care facility in Santa Rosa so that he can receive full time care. Since moving here on November 1st, Shawn has received 24/7 care, assistance with bathing, and 3 homemade meals a day--all of which have helped increase his physical stamina and helped him recover some of his self care abilities. Today he can actually stand up on his own once again. With assistance he can shuffle over short distances, and use his wheelchair to get around everywhere else.
My family and I would like him to remain in the excellent care of these wonderful care providers until the New Year to continue to build his strength, which costs $6000 per month. To do so, we need to raise funds, and are hopeful that your generous contribution will help us continue to make him comfortable through December and into the 2021.
If you know Shawn, you know that he is a loving and giving person who has lived his life fully, and has assisted many with their personal recoveries and challenges. Shawn desires to spend his remaining days with friends and family, to relive mutual memories, to share his pearls of wisdom with those who might appreciate them, and hopefully to enjoy what remains of his time here with us.
