Shawn Robert Barlow meant different things to different people: friend, brother, a mother's baby, son, lover, nephew, workmate, child you watched grow up, childhood playmate, school friend, etc. What these all have in common is Shawn. He was a very special person who endured much.

It has been a shock to all to have lost him. This GoFundMe is to ensure Shawn has a nice Memorial and to assist the one he held closest: Carolyn, Shawn's girlfriend. Shawn didn't have life insurance and lived a simple modest life, living and working like most of us do- from paycheck to paycheck.

He was a funny guy with a serious streak and a very sensitive side. Shawn loved a good laugh and loved to goof off. He loved animals. He had a vivid imagination and a mind that ran wild. He was a shooting star! 

Thank you for the love and support! May you know you are loved and valued. May Shawn live on through your memories and the moments you shared with him. For those of you who didn't know him, you missed out...but we can't know everybody. 

Please do not feel pressured to donate, times are tough and if all you can do is offer words of encouragement and love to Carolyn and Shawn's friends and family, please do so here! Please also feel free to share your memories of Shawn and most importantly, be respectful. Please no negativity or cursing. We all need love at this time.

May is Mental Awareness Month. For any of us who have suffered or suffer or know someone who suffers from Mental Illness in any form, know that you aren't alone. Know that help is available. Know there is no shame in talking to someone: a doctor, therapist, stranger, friend, family. There is no shame in taking a prescription if needed or accepting help. Don't take life for granted or how your life affects others. We are all intertwined, a complex tapestry of memories.
