Shawn Marthaler: loving father, devoted husband, loyal friend, dedicated lineman and kickass firefighter. For those that know Shawn personally, you know that he’d be upset to know that anyone is doing anything for him. But you also all know that he’d do anything for anyone else. He would never ask for help in this way. For those who are aware, Shawn and his family have a long road ahead. A little extra money will be helpful as they move into the days and months to come. On July 9, Shawn unknowingly had a stroke. On July 10, his wife Jessica brought him to the ER and he was quickly sent to Abbott. It was discovered Shawn has a patent foramen ovale – a hole in his heart that typically closes at birth. This hole allowed clots to his brain. He will need surgery to repair this. After a few days in the hospital, Shawn was sent home. The following Saturday, he went back to the ER due to a persistent headache. Unfortunately, they then found a brain bleed. He was airlifted back to Abbott neurology ICU. Jessica has been driving back and forth to be with Shawn and tend to their family. They are also dealing with COVID restrictions which don’t allow her to stay with him. Shawn will remain in the hospital for a while. If we know anything about this family, we know they are strong, resilient, and selfless. We only ask to give back to them if you are able. Prayers, thoughts and love are more important than anything. We thank you in advance and ask God to bless each of you for the time you have taken to read Shawn’s story and help in whichever way is best for you.
