Shawn Hand Motorcycle Accident Recovery
On New Year's Eve, my father was involved in a severe motorcycle accident resulting in a head-on collision. He was ejected from his bike, thrown across the highway, and tragically run over by another vehicle. Thankfully, he was wearing a helmet, which spared him from significant brain injuries.
However, while I was over 2,800 miles away, I received a devastating call about his condition. My father’s left leg was so badly damaged that doctors had no choice but to amputate it above the knee. The vehicle’s tires had run over his leg and arm lengthwise, causing extensive injuries. His life has been forever changed.
In addition to the loss of his leg, my father has suffered a broken back, which will require surgery in the coming days. He also sustained a broken right arm, including a crushed elbow joint and a fractured upper arm. The outcome of these surgeries will determine his long-term mobility and quality of life. Our family is doing everything we can to support him through this incredibly challenging time.
We are reaching out for help to cover his immediate medical expenses and support his long-term recovery. This includes housing modifications to ensure accessibility, as well as the eventual cost of a prosthesis. Your love and support can help my father face these life-altering injuries and remind him that a strong community stands behind him.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference and be deeply appreciated. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this difficult time.
