Shawn Geary

My name is Amber my husband was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus on August, 6th, 2021. In June Shawn started having trouble swallowing he got choked one night a dinner, at the hospital they had to use a scope to remove the food from his esophagus. The Dr. told us he had some narrowing that was normal and would need a EGD to stretch the esophagus. The EDG was done on July 20th the Dr. said they had taken a biopsy of what he though was scar tissue. On August, 6th we received the phone call that is was cancer. Shawn was told to stop working on August, 13th by his oncologist as they would be putting in a feeding tube ASAP as he was loosing so much weight due to not being able to eat. We are now down to a one income family Shawn has applied for SSI but it could take up to 5 months if he is approved. I do not like asking for help but at this time I do not want my husband to stress over our finances when he needs to concentrate on his health and treatment.
