Hi, my name is Shawn.
At 59, I’ve spent much of my life caring for others, as a caregiver for the elderly and disabled, helping people stay comfortable, safe, and seen in their own homes. It’s work that means everything to me. But recently, I’ve hit a wall that I can’t overcome on my own.
After moving to Ohio to rebuild and start fresh, a series of financial setbacks led to my car being repossessed. Without transportation, I can’t reach the homes of the people I care for, and most jobs in my field require reliable travel.
On top of that, I have knee injuries that make walking long distances or using public transportation painful and difficult. Having a dependable car isn’t just about convenience — it’s a necessity for me to continue working and maintaining my independence.
I’ve worked hard all my life and have overcome tough times before. I know I’ll recover again, but right now, I’m struggling to keep my head above water. I’m deeply grateful to my siblings and my mom for helping me with food and essentials, but they’ve done all they can.
I’m raising $3,500 to buy a small, reliable used car so I can return to caregiving, regain financial stability, and keep helping others who depend on me.
Every donation, every share, and every kind word brings me one step closer to getting back on the road — and back to doing the work I love.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for helping me find my way forward. ❤️
— Shawn
