It is with the deepest sorrow we announce the unexpected passing of Shawn Caesar Knox Jr. on 4/2/2022. Shawn was murdered in Ohio on 4/2/2022-in front of his girlfriend and daughter-while on his way back from a birthday visit with family in Detroit. He was killed 2 days before his 28th birthday on 4/4/2022.
In an effort to help with funeral costs, we have set up this page for donations.
Shawn had recently started a mentoring program for youth-after experiencing consequences and profound personal growth from challenges he had faced in his own life.
Shawn’s family is forever grateful for the love and support provided to help bring him home for memorial services and a funeral. The cost just to bring Shawn home to Madison from Ohio, where he was murdered, was $4000. The funeral, cremation, and memorial expenses were approximately $13,000. Costs beyond the $6,500 raised here at the time of this edit on 4/27/22 (thank you!!!) are now a burden that weighs heavily on Wendy, Shawn’s mother.
She will also be needing to travel and stay in Ohio for future court proceedings involving her son’s murder. Wendy is a single parent to four kids, a phenomenal Caregiver professionally and in her personal life-there are countless people who call her “Mama” because she has provided the sort of comfort and refuge to so many when they have needed it.
Any amount received that is beyond actual memorial expenses will be used to support his three young children and family.
Any amount donated would be so greatly appreciated, and will allow the family to grieve without this major financial burden.
