Shawn was diagnosed in May 2022 with metastatic testicular cancer, stage 3. Shawn started treatment June 6th. He has completed four rounds of chemotherapy and has had multiple blood transfusions. Shawn is on day 107 of treatment and going forward the treatment plan may include an extensive surgery to remove the rest of the cancer and lymph nodes. This possibility of the surgery would require an out of state surgeon, a 7 day required hospital stay, and an extensive recovery. The next phase of treatment is unclear right now, but Amanda and Shawn will update as they know more. Since initial diagonsis, he has now had an unexpected relapse of disease and ongoing treatment continues.

Shawn and Amanda have had significant loss of income, issues with insurance reimbursement, costly medical treatment while navigating the current increase in daily life that so many of us are experiencing.

Shawn and Amanda have been running this marathon since May. They are so grateful for every prayer, meal, and support given to them. This race continues and we can come alongside their family and help relieve some of the burden so Shawn can focus on healing. Amanda and Shawn are raising four boys who are very active in football and baseball. They are thankful for their church community who have shown so much support to their families. Their friends and family have been a valuable part of this journey, but we want to use this opportunity to allow others to come alongside them.
