My Name is Shawdaye Phillips; I have been a part of the Nashville community for 25 years and have resided at Riverchase Apartment Complex since January 2021. I moved into the Riverchase community, assuming it would be a long-term home for my children and myself, only to find out within six months of living there that they would be torn down. Initially, I was informed that the Salvation Army would be assisting in finding housing; however, very shortly after, I was told that it was a miscommunication. I was left to search for accommodation on my own. I am a single mother of 3 boys; I work part-time and care for my terminally ill mother without transportation. For the past five months, it has been a struggle searching for housing with all of these barriers. My children are suffering emotionally, not knowing where they will lay their heads next month and living with the fear that they will be separated. I am now being told that if I am not able to pay rent for May, I will not receive the $2200 financial aid from the CREA developer to transition. I am asking for any assistance or resources to help us transition in this difficult time. Thank you so much!
