Hi, my name is Ona Heck. I am organizing this fundraiser for my mom, ShaVonne Ralstin, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer. My mom is by far the strongest, most diligent, loving woman I have ever met. She is a mother to two children, works incredibly hard at her full-time job, & always puts the needs of others before her own. Her work ethic & strength are just two of the reasons I aspire to be like her. I am beyond proud to call this beautiful soul my mom.
In late October of 2022, my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer that metastasized to her liver. Three days after her diagnosis, she was rushed to the emergency room due to a bowel obstruction. The doctors were able to remove the large tumor from her colon & a sizeable amount of her large intestine. However, she still has multiple tumors on her liver, as well as a couple of "nodules" on her lungs. The hospital later referred her to an oncologist who recommended the "standard of care" chemotherapy treatment, which has a survival rate of less than a 15% after five years.
TREATMENT: After extensive research, ShaVonne discovered a promising treatment with a much higher survival rate. She would have to travel out of state to Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona to receive the treatment. Envita Medical Center specializes in late-stage cancer treatments & helping patients who are considered "untreatable." Your generous donations will help my mom to receive personalized precision therapy. This treatment includes genomic identification (genetic testing) & immuno-targeting therapy. Immuno-targeting therapy trains her immune system to attack cancer cells with fewer side effects than chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the treatment is considered alternative medicine and will not be covered by ShaVonne’s insurance. This fundraiser will go entirely towards her treatment at Envita Medical Center. Due to the aggressive nature of the cancer, it is critical that we raise these funds as quickly as possible so that she can start receiving this life-saving treatment as soon as possible.
My mom is not the type of person to ask others for help, but we need all the help we can get. Not only are we asking for donations, but we genuinely appreciate all thoughts, shares, & prayers. She has an incredibly strong support system & many rely on her. We all want to see her healthy. Her battle is our battle. I will post updates as her treatment progresses & keep everyone updated. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
